Open app, scroll down, repeat scroll, click the like, keep scrolling, like again, close phone and put in pocket.

2 minutes later…open app, scroll down, click the like, etc.

Rinse and repeat on average over 100 times a day.

Ever caught yourself mindlessly surfing twitter, facebook, instagram or the likes?

It reaches the point where it becomes an impulse.  We are often not even aware or present with what we are doing.

It becomes an addiction.

An often times with an addiction, we enjoy it at first, and then it just becomes a habit that is formed that we stick with.

We get the itch, and we scratch it – hundreds of times a day.

And increasingly, people are starting to catch on to this.

There have been an increasing amount of research showing how Facebook actually makes us unhappy.  It’s not contributing to our overall well being – it’s actually taking away from it.

But when we are addicted, we have trouble rising above the noise and seeing the effect.  We rationalize, we make excuses, we let ourselves off the hook.  And rather than ration ourselves, we just numb more with it.

Open app, scroll down, click a like, keep scrolling, like again, close phone and put in pocket.

Rinse and repeat.
